We mentioned this Newtown hotspot in our last plant-based restaurant roundup, but as it’s also one of the most dog-friendly eateries around Sydney, we had to give it another mention. Khamsa comes very highly recommended in both the plant-based and the flexitarian world, serving up delicious Palestinian food in an open and airy space. They offer incredible brunch options like Eggplant Shahshuka for those looking to move away from the stock-standard, as well as mouth-watering dinner options like Sush Barak, traditional dumplings served in warm yoghurt sauce.

Everything at this quirky Marrickville cafe is homemade, from the relishes and cakes to the jams and plant-based sausage rolls. There are loads of yummy brunch options on the menu at Petty Cash Cafe, like rosti and corn fritters, as well as a ‘cheesy’ vegan lasagne. Plenty of outdoor seating means you can grab a spot in the sun and relax with your furry friend over some delicious food.

For those who want their pooch to eat as well as they do, Naked Brew has an incredible dog-friendly menu that any four-legged friend is sure to love. Think doggy donuts, ice-cream and ‘cinos. The standout for us though would be the Naked Brew New Doggie Belgian Waffle, made with natural, unsalted peanut butter, wholemeal flour, unsalted chicken stock, free-range eggs and a natural carob and yoghurt frosting. Pair it with a Truffled Mushroom and Beetroot Hummus Stack for you and you’ve got a doggy date fit for a king.

With a delicious menu as big as the venue, Cooh has plenty of outdoor seating where you can soak up some sun while spending some quality time with your pooch. All three breakfast, lunch and dinner menus have some delicious plant-based offerings, with our picks being the Buckwheat Pancakes and the Pumpkin Falafel Salad.

The lovely outdoor area at Joe Frank’s makes a welcome spot for you to perch with your pooch. Run by the same guys who own Mr Tucci and Son of Tucci, this Italian-influenced cafe serves up lots of Italian favourites mixed up with some Australian staples. The Rawnola is a highlight here, with poached pear a rhubarb, mango and cashew ‘nice-cream’ and coconut and lime yoghurt.

With an entire plant-based menu, you’ll be spoilt for choice at Moby. The smashed avo with sauteed mushrooms is a must, as are the house-made falafels with pomegranate molasses. Grab a coffee, pull up a seat and watch the world go by with your little fluffy friend.
Image sourced from Hello Sam Facebook
Hello Sam proves not all dog-friendly venues have to be flowery brunch spots. When you’ve got a craving for a juicy burger but don’t want to leave your pooch behind, we’ve got the perfect spot for you. The vegan menu here means you can still satisfy your fast food cravings the plant-based way, with standouts being the Truffle Shuffle with a mushroom arancini patty, and the Peking Duck, with crispy fried ‘duck’ and hoisin sauce.
Image sourced from A Minor Place Facebook
Not just great for coffee, A Minor Place is also a pop-friendly foodie hangout too. The Cajun Tofu Sandwich with chilli vegan mayo in Turkish pide is one of our faves here, finished off on a sweet note with a King Kong smoothie, blending together banana, peanut butter, dates, cacao and chocolate almond milk.

Pixie & The Hawk proudly proclaim their love for furry friends, so bring yours along and they’re sure to get plenty of pats (and maybe even some treats). If that’s not enough of a reason to check this Adelaide brunch institution out, the menu brings a lot to the table. They’re pretty accommodating to veggies, vegans and gluten-free, and one of our top dishes here is the Avo Of My Eye. With bashed (not smashed) avocado, turmeric toast, vegetable korma hummus, masala chilli oil, bhuja and herbs, it’s a flavour explosion.

This sweet spot on Hindley Street is totally outdoors, making it a friendly place for pets to frolic. Don’t forget to say hi to the resident rabbits here too! Plant-based foodies are spoilt for choice at Peter Rabbit, with plenty of delicious options on the menu. For something a little different, try the Kakejiru, featuring a ginger miso broth, udon noodles, tofu, kimchi, corns, greens and spring onion.

Five Been Chilli Nachos with vegan mayo anyone? Cafe Komodo has been part of the Prospect scene for over 15 years, and have been welcoming customers and their four-legged friends with delicious coffee and food. The resident bulldog Lady Daphne is here to greet you as you arrive, and we’d recommend settling down with an organic apple and guava slushie while you peruse the menu.

Don’t let the name fool you – Coffee Institute does more than just great coffee. With dishes like tofu bao, quinoa tabbouleh with falafels and house-made bircher muesli with saffron poached pear, you’re sure to love dining here as much as your dog will.
